Varendra University

It is my pleasure to welcome you to this wonderful website of Varendra University (VU) and invite you all to share my message through it. This University has been established with a view to providing quality education and research opportunities to teachers as well as students. Being an institution equipped with enough facilities and intended to be the best one of its kind, VU aims at excellence, integrity, transparency and accountability. It has been successfully running nine important and widely demanded subjects: CSE, EEE. Pharmacy, English, Business Administration, Law and Human Rights, Sociology, Journalism and Economics. Towards attaining its mission of excellence at all levels the University has rented a new building very close to the main campus located beside Rajshahi – Dhaka High way opposite to Rajshahi University, Kazla, Motihar, to accommodate the increased flow of new batches of students. Authority has already purchased more than 4 acres of land and wishes to procure twice more before the beginning of construction of permanent campus of VU, hopefully, within next couple of years.

In this age of globalization since a University is better known for cultivation of knowledge and research activities, VU has decided to make the research work obligatory for both the teachers and students alike. Seminars and workshops are integral to University curriculum. We arrange them on weekly and regular basis and the participants include students, teachers and sometimes eminent scholars from both home and abroad. The purpose of such seminars is to exchange views, opinions, and ideas and to share the latest development of knowledge and technologies in the present world. Arranging international conferences every year is also a part of our policy. We already arranged one in collaboration with Rajshahi University in 2012. The outcome of our research, we strongly believe, will contribute to social, cultural, financial and economical growth and expansion of the country.
As an exceptional institution, VU maintains fulltime office routine for the teachers. During office hours, they help and counsel the students regarding their studies, other academic problems and career planning, and rest of the time; teachers engage themselves in research activities. We strictly adhere to another principle that no classes should go unattended showing any pretext of any kind. If any teacher is on leave or otherwise engaged, he or she is substituted by another teacher.

VU is a non political organization. It propagates and practices the principles of equality regardless of sex, creed, religion and political views. The purpose is to create a non partisan, non communal and a congenial cosmopolitan environment. The students, nevertheless, have every liberty to be aware of recent trends of national and international politics, and have right to information conducive to the formation of their minds and leadership quality. We try to inculcate the maxim in our students that what matters is knowledge, not power. Knowledge is convertible to power but not the opposite.
VU gives first priority to our culture, heritage and mother tongue, and the second priority goes to the use of English. Today we cannot imagine our life without technology and computer which is again inevitably linked with the English language competence. So, computer and English language are introduced as fundamental courses for all departments. VU is deeply committed to familiarize students with modern technologies so that the nation, in course of, time, can avail its easy access to the real digital world. The ultimate aim of VU, therefore, is to produce not only a complete man but a ready man as well.
So I strongly believe that Varendra University would be able to transform itself into an Alma Mater of supreme excellence in near future by virtue of its innovative, creative and hardworking devotion to achieve higher values of life.
