SOS  Children's Village Rajshahi and the Department of English, Varendra University have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in a bid to enhance collaboration in education, research, and social welfare.

The signing ceremony took place on Thursday, February 06, 2025 at the permanent campus of Varendra University.

The MoU was signed by Professor Md. Shahidur Rahman, Head, Department of English and Dean, School of Arts and Social Science, on behalf of the department. On behalf of SOS Children's Village Rajshahi, the memorandum was signed by the Director Md. Atikur Rahman.

Professor Dr. Ananda Kumar Saha, Vice-Chancellor (In-charge) of Varendra University, was present as the chief guest. Among other guests were the Treasurer, Prof. Dr. Faizar Rahman, Registrar, Suranjit Mondal and others. The Assistant Professors and other teachers of the Department of English were present during the signing ceremony.

The representative team of SOS Children's Village Rajshahi included the Director Md. Atikur Rahman, Assistant Directors, Najmul Hossain, Md. Zaved Taher and Munjure Elahi Mamun, and other officers.

The stakeholders said: “The main objective of the MoU is to facilitate initiatives for social and educational development through joint research, internship opportunities, workshops, training, and social welfare programs.”

Both the parties expressed optimism that this agreement would foster mutual cooperation between the department of English and SOS Children's Village Rajshahi in the fields of education and social development.
